In a year of constant changes and adjustments, we're pivoting one more time. If we've learned anything about ourselves over the course of the last year, it is that we are a resilient church! Some might even call us scrappy! We had reserved City of Axum Park for Church in the Park this Sunday. However, the forecast is not cooperating. So instead of waiting until Sunday morning to make a decision about meeting or not, we've taken a proactive approach.
East Denver Church of God has been a friend of ours since before we started The Hills Church. Long story short - this Sunday we are going to join their worship service at their building. The Hills team will be providing the music and teaching.
Sunday, May 9 Worship Service
Location: East Denver Church of God (corner of MLK Jr Blvd / Monaco) - 6430 M.L.K. Jr Blvd. The church is on the southwest corner of the intersection and only accessible going eastbound on MLK Blvd.
Time: 10:30 a.m.
Kids - we will have kids church for kids 11 and under with separate classes for nursery, preschool, and elementary kids. Kids are also welcome to stay with parents in the service. Help us get your kids checked-in ahead of time by completing the brief form at https://www.thehillsdenver.com/kids.
Covid mitigation - We are following all recommended guidelines from the city of Denver. We ask that everyone wear a mask. We'll take temperatures as people enter the building and supply copious amounts of hand-sanitizer. East Denver COG has a small congregation so I would expect there to be a total of 60-70 people present. In addition, there is a balcony and an overflow room so that we'll be able to practice physical distancing.
What to expect - Expect to be encouraged. Expect to be challenged. Expect to connect with old and new friends. Expect a little chaos. :) This will be our first time to meet indoors in 14 months! There will likely be some kinks to get ironed out. However, I'd rather have some chaos and be able to worship with my sisters and brothers than not meet together and have a perfectly ordinary day!
Livestream - For those unable to join us in-person, we will be streaming the service on Facebook only this week.
We hope you can join us in-person or virtually! And, don't forget it's Mother's Day. We'll be honoring all the ladies.
